Karen Gillan has given the most incredible Nebula-shaped reveal in celebration of the premiere of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 – and it truly has to be seen to be believed and completely appreciated.
Fortunately for us, the actress has given us with photographic evidence.
The latest Marvel blockbuster, which spells the end of the road for the Guardians crew as we know them, sees Nebula – now a fully-fledged member of the gang – race against time with Peter ‘Star-Lord’ Quill (Chris Pratt), Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista), Mantis (Pom Klementieff), Groot (Vin Diesel) and sister Gamora (Zoe Saldana) in a bid to rescue the life of Rocket (Bradley Cooper).
It’s fair to say that it’s taken a bit for Nebula to soften up after she was groomed to be an assassin under the watchful eye of her adoptive father Thanos (who also tormented her with bio-mechanical enhancements).
She’s still a terrifying-looking and acting persona, which makes Karen’s revelation especially funnier.
The 35-year-old took to social media on Wednesday and wrote: ‘In honour of Guardians of the Galaxy in theatres Friday, here’s a screenshot of the time I forgot I had scheduled a COUPLES THERAPY session on a day we were shooting.’

Karen then shared a screenshot of a Zoom session that included her, her husband Nick Kocher, and a therapist whose name she obscured with a scribbling and gritted-teeth emoji.
While Nick wore a navy hoodie and had a calm expression on his face, Karen was completely covered in blue and turquoise Nebula face make-up down to her neck, complete with damage and scrapes from a fight sequence.
In a black tank top, the Scot revealed her normal-colored shoulders.
Fans, on the other hand, praised her admission of the mix-up, with one calling it “pure love commitment.”
‘That sounds like commitment to the relationship to me!’ joked another.
‘Absolutely iconic,’ commented a third fan, while another admitted: ‘This made me so happy.’
‘Extra points if you did the whole session in the voice of Nebula,’ quipped a separate follower, echoing many others wondering the same.
The actor was also lauded for being candid about her partner’s rehabilitation.
One social media user responded underneath her original post: ‘Epic couples therapy session. Also, I love that you’re sharing this. Therapy is great!
‘Great tweet! Especially since for many couples therapy is a big taboo!’ agreed another.
Karen stated in February that she secretly married writer and comedian Nick last May, posting photos from their wedding in Scotland to Instagram.
Nick is well-known for his writing contributions to Saturday Night Live and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, as well as his stand-up duo act BriTANicK with Brian Joseph McElhaney.
