Stranger Things actor Grace Van Dien has revealed that a ‘essential’ character would die in the show’s impending final season.
Last season, she appeared as Chrissy Cunningham in the season 4 premiere episode of the blockbuster Netflix series.
Cheerleader Chrissy was killed in Chapter One: The Hellfire Club after being plagued by visions of her family and a ticking grandfather clock.
After purchasing drugs from Eddie (Joseph Quinn), she was possessed and slain by Vecna in scenes that fans of the programme will never forget.
Grace, 26, has delivered a possible bombshell despite the fact that she is no longer participating with the show.
During a recent fan convention in Holland, the actress mentioned that’someone important’ may die when the show returns to our screens.

‘I heard someone important is gonna die,’ she said in response to a question asking if she’d watch season 5 after her character was killed off.
‘Spoilers?’ she continued, reacting to the crowd’s shock after dropping the bombshell.
‘That’s public,’ she added.
While her comments drew a lot of attention, she isn’t the only one who has hinted at what’s to come.
Earlier this year, the show’s writers said on social media, “Season 5 is like if Season 1 and Season 4 had a baby.” The infant was then injected with steroids.’
This delicious revelation has already ‘traumatised’ some followers, with one tweeting in reaction, ‘I’m so worried.’
‘Am I supposed to feel ok after hearing this,’ someone else wrote, while another remarked: ‘Ok so what I’m hearing is Will Byers getting the screen time he deserves again but it being even more traumatising.’
The fanbase surrounding the programme, however, has been poisonous at times, with Grace being attacked by trolls after her appearance.
Her co-star Joseph addressed this at a live Q&A at Showmasters’ London Comic Con in March, saying it was ‘terrible’ what she had gone through.
‘I was talking to her about it. The internet is a very unforgiving place. It’s a place where people can show a lot of support, or where people can rally around hatred and misinformation,’ he said.
He added: ‘It’s indicative of where we are culturally, just through association she was getting lambasted. It’s disgusting. I don’t know what to say other than it sucks.’
The Duffer Brothers, who developed Stranger Things, previously revealed in an interview that they regretted murdering Chrissy after seeing Grace’s performance and her and Joseph’s connection during their moments.
‘We always have those moments [of “What have we done?”],’ Matt Duffer told TVLine.
‘It’s pretty impressive what Grace was able to do with very, very few scenes, to get people to care like she did.’
Stranger Things is streaming on Netflix.
