Gordon Ramsay has hit back after people criticised him charging £19 for a fry-up at the Savoy Grill, claiming they ‘can’t f**king afford it’ anyway.
The Michelin starred chef and TV personality, 54, revealed the high-end fry-up on social media in September to tempt people to give it a try at his central London restaurant.
The plate itself consisted of two fried eggs, a sausage, half a tomato, a single mushroom and several slices of bacon arranged with a sprig of garnish and baked beans on the side.
Fans had taken to social media to complain about the price, as well as the breakfast missing out a few key components of a full English breakfast for the £19 price tag.
Following the furore, Gordon stood by his posh nosh, claiming he would have that plate as his ‘last supper’.
He told Insider: ‘I stand by it. I swear by it. And it is one meal that I would ever eat as a last supper.
‘It has to be a full English breakfast with extra baked beans.’
He added: ‘And you know what? If you’re worried about the price, you can’t f**king afford it.’
Gordon had posted a video of someone cutting into the runny egg from his fry-up, telling his followers: ‘The most amazing Full English…. can’t wait for you to try it from 21st September at Savoy Grill.’
A fan had replied with a picture of his own full English breakfast, with the plate groaning under the weight of the food, writing: ‘THIS is a full English Gordon. Take a leaf out of @fryuppolice’s book….’
Gordon brilliantly clapped back with his iconic catchphrase, telling the man: ‘That’s called a Full English Classic Heart Attack you idiot sandwich’.
The phrase has been much-memed since Gordon placed a slice of bread on each side of a chef’s face and dubbed them an ‘idiot sandwich’ in a sketch on The Late Late Show with James Corden in 2016.
