Ed Sheeran took a temporary career change, working a shift at a Lego shop in America instead of recording.
Despite his fears about AI replacing musicians, the 32-year-old is not giving up his guitar just yet.
On Saturday, August 12, the Brit surprised fans by signing Lego boxes, handing out gifts, and meeting hundreds of unsuspecting admirers at the Mall of America.
It was only fitting that Ed ended his shopping expedition with an acoustic rendition of his smash song Lego House.
Lego House was released on Ed’s + album almost ten years ago and featured a post-Harry Potter Rupert Grint in the song video.
‘Went to the Mall of America today to work in the LEGO store / hand out LEGO sets and sing Lego house. LEGO!!!!’ enthused the A Team singer on Instagram.
Ed explains he is in Minnesota in the Lego store and has his ‘Lego outfit’ on to be a ‘brick specialist’ for the day before his second Minnesota gig on his tour.
‘Are you kidding me?’ an excited fan says as she spots Ed behind the counter, ‘My daughter’s gonna freak out.’
As he greets people, he wears a bright yellow apron and a Lego-branded t-shirt, including several children who appear absolutely awestruck by the Thinking Out Loud singer.
When asked about his favourite Lego set, Ed pointed to a knight’s castle and explained: ‘Me and my brother had a tiny wizard set.’
The celebrity then took the stage in a tiny cordoned-off area outside the front of the store, to tremendous cheers.
The video does not include footage from the private performance, but Ed then displayed new Lego Minifigures that he would be handing out during his concert that evening.
He showed off a small figure, which came with a white block and a cap which read: ‘Autumn is coming’.
Ed has been hinting at the arrival of Autumn for quite some time, with fans stating that his programme was focussed on a significant surprise coming this ‘Autumn 9’.
Lego’s official Instagram commented: ‘We think we love you better now.🧡’
