Craig Charles recently recorded a hospital sprint after being unwell live on television.
The 58-year-old host and former Coronation Street actor was hit by agony on his BBC Radio 5 Music show on Wednesday.
He couldn’t hold a pen and amazingly finished the job before his wife, Jackie, rushed him to A&E later that night.
Craig, who has aired the Funk and Soul show since 2002, returned later to keep his fans up to date.
The Red Dwarf star said on Friday (March 24): ‘My hands couldn’t grip the pen and my fingers were tingling.
‘I had a pain in the right side of me shoulder going up my neck and into the back of my head.
‘The producer asked, “Are you ok?”, I said, “Not really, but we’ll get through the show”.’
When the celebrity arrived at the hospital, he was given an ECG (electrocardiogram) to rule out any cardiac abnormalities.
He was subsequently tested for another 24 hours, and Craig informed listeners of his five-hour wait to be examined.
‘This is no disrespect or no criticism of Wythenshawe Hospital they were brilliant, they were professional, they were caring, they were dedicated,’ he praised.
He went on to say that he and his wife attempted to sleep on a single trolley until the expected commotion of the A&E waiting area woke them up, as another patient screamed after dislocating his shoulder.
‘So nearly 24 hours in the hospital and they still don’t know what’s wrong with me but at least I’m not dying yet,’ Craig joked.
Craig’s visit to A&E comes after his Channel 4 programme Moneybags was cancelled.
The gameshow ran for two seasons, the first in November 2021.
Moneybags then returned in August of last year for a second 30-episode season, which ended in September.
Despite the fact that the gameshow was a tremendous hit with viewers, it will not be returning.
‘Moneybags has a really big and loyal fan base and having Craig on board just made it perfect,’ a source told The Sun.
‘Unfortunately, Covid has once again played its part causing the production behind it to go bust.’
Craig has already expressed his enthusiasm for the hosting role.
He was intrigued to the gameshow position because of the thrill and life-changing amounts of money on offer, with participants standing to win £1 million.
‘I always thought I wanted to do one, and thought I’d be quite good at that, but it’s just getting the opportunity I suppose, so I’m grateful to have the opportunity with a game that fits my personality and a game that I’d love to play myself, it’s a great game,’ he said
