Carol Vorderman, the wife of Conservative MP Johnny Mercer, has been labelled a “famous attack dog” in a stinging assault by her husband’s wife.
Felicity Cornelius-Mercer has made no secret of her affections for Carol, revealing in a new podcast that she “drives me up the f***ing wall.”
Similarly, Carol has never held back in her criticism of the administration, recently labelling Boris Johnson’s ‘gaslighting’ ‘disgusting’ – and a ‘dose of diarrhoea that keeps on giving.’
Dominic Raab, Rishi Sunak, and Matt Hancock have also been targeted, and he frequently rails about Tories in general, most recently dubbing the party and administration ‘poison’ on Twitter.
Now Felicity has given her own opinion of Carol, speaking on the Difficult Women podcast hosted by Rachel Johnson, sister of former Prime Minister and Tory MP Boris.
Asked straight out ‘what have you got against Carol Vorderman?’ Felicity responded: ‘She drives me up the f***ing wall!’
She insisted she doesn’t ‘usually get stressed out by people,’ but ‘these celebrity attack dogs that know nothing about politics, there’s definitely an argument to be had about that.’
‘But I understand everyone has an opinion on politics … but for me it’s this blanket hatred, inciting people to hate all Tories. Hate all Tories, or hate all Labour, hate everyone who falls under a certain umbrella.’
Tory MPs, she claimed, are “all quite diverse,” with “a broad spectrum of personalities, different beliefs, views, and convictions.” You can’t cover up hatred. This appears to be what she is doing.
‘She’s using words like “disgusting, I’m disgusted.” I find it really hard.’
Felicity even went on to suggest Carol – who was made an Honorary Group Captain in the airforce – ‘should be stripped of that because she shouldn’t be political.’
She acknowledged that Carol had not specifically targeted Johnny, but said she had been questioned if Johnny was “embarrassed to be a Conservative” because it was not listed in his Twitter bio. She said it was because he represented everyone in his district.
Carol called for a snap election this month after the Privileges Committee discovered that Boris Johnson intentionally deceived Parliament about a number of shutdown parties in Downing Street when he was prime minister.
According to the 108-page, 30,000-word study, he lied before the Commons on five distinct occasions.
Carol, 62, took to Twitter quickly after the news emerged, tweeting an angry face emoji and the words ‘GENERAL ELECTION NOW.’
Just days earlier, Carol blasted Boris, calling him ‘disgusting’ after he sensationally quit as an MP, writing: ‘It also came with a whole pile of lying crap from this disgusting piece of gaslighting…..you can complete the rest…thoughts?’
