Chris Martin has been chastised for disclosing that he only eats one meal per day and citing Bruce Springsteen as his inspiration.
Every day around 4 p.m., Coldplay’s vocalist quits eating and misses dinner.
Fix Chris, 46, revealed that he was encouraged to begin the stringent dietary regimen after having lunch with Bruce, 73, who follows the same regimen.
‘I actually don’t have dinner anymore. I stop eating at four and I learned that from having lunch with Bruce Springsteen,’ dad-of-two Chris shared.
Speaking on the Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend podcast, the musician added: ‘I was lucky enough to go over there to lunch the day after we played Philadelphia last year. I was on a really strict diet anyway.
‘But I was like, “Bruce looks even more in shape than me” and Patti [Bruce’s wife] said he’s only eating one meal a day. I was like, “Well, there we go. That’s my next challenge”.’
In the comments section below, fans were quick to point out that Chris’ eating habits seemed unhealthy.
‘Isn’t that an eating disorder?’ queried one social media user, while another wrote: ‘One meal a day… whewf.’
‘Oh my God no wonder I noticed how thin Bruce has gotten. WTH? And Chris has always been rail thin,’ remarked someone else.
One YouTuber noted: ‘First Gwyneth and her bone broth… and now her ex doesn’t eat dinner. The disordered eating habits of famous people is beyond obnoxious and dangerous.’
Addressing the criticism her comments drummed up, Gwyneth later said the diet was devised with her doctor to help with her symptoms of long-Covid and focussed on foods to combat inflammations, such as ‘cooked vegetables, proteins and healthy carbs’.
The 50-year-old Oscar winner was eager to clear the air, assuring supporters that she “eats full meals.”
The Shallow Hal actor said earlier this month on the Art of Being Wellbeing podcast with Dr Will Cole that she fasts until 12pm, then eats’soup’ or ‘bone broth’ followed by an hour of exercise and eats ‘plenty of veggies’ in the evening in accordance with the paleo diet.
In response to the criticism her statements drew, Gwyneth subsequently stated that the diet was designed with her doctor to deal with the symptoms of long-Covid and focused on anti-inflammatory foods like as “cooked vegetables, proteins, and healthy carbs.”
