Cardi B is the latest star to get hit by a flying object on stage – and she fought back.
The performer, 30, recently performed at an outdoor performance, where she shouted out some of her biggest hits, from WAP to I Like It.
However, she became a victim of a growing practise in which audience members fling things onto the stage to hit whoever they came to see, leaving Bebe Rexha bloodied and bruised and Harry Styles bent over in pain.
In Cardi’s case, a fan in the front row tossed a drink at her as she was performing, which hit her – and after a brief, stunned pause, Cardi responded.
She threw the microphone into the audience and was obviously scared and enraged as the background music continued without her.
Security can be seen reacting as Cardi sought to regain her calm on stage, brushing her long dark hair away from her face and appearing – understandably – anxious.
A video of the horrifying event has circulated on social media, with people mostly supporting Cardi’s reaction.
According to one, it was ‘about time a performer replied to this “trend.”
‘Maybe now these people will stop throwing things at artists,’ another suggested.
‘People seriously need to stop throwing stuff on stage at celebs.’ one agreed.
It comes after many celebrities, including Drake, il Nas X, and Taylor Swift, were targeted by flying missiles launched from the audience.
I’m a talented vocalist. Bebe was smacked in the face with a cell phone while performing in New York last month, causing her to grip her face in distress and tumble to the ground.
She was unable to return to the stage and was removed out of the arena, later posting photos of her black eye and a cut below her forehead on Instagram.
Despite the injury Bebe continued on her tour, saying ‘‘Although the show ended in an unfortunate way it was still an amazing show in my hometown. Thank you so Much New York. I love You. The Tour must go on!!!’
