The Great Pottery Throw Down said goodbye to Suz tonight in the third elimination of the series so far.
The 55-year-old library assistant from Aberdeenshire was voted out by the judges Keith Brymer Jones and Rich Miller after failing to impress them with her fruit bowl and her carafe – which she made blindfolded.
‘We’ve really bonded as a group and they’re such a great bunch,’ Suz said as she exited the competition.
‘You know, I’ve realised that I can do more than I thought I could.’
In another clip, Suz hugged the remaining contestants as she told them: ‘You’re now my clay family, whether you like it or not.’
Meanwhile, Shenyue was awarded potter of the week, with her sgraffito bowl.
Sgraffito is a decorating pottery technique produced by applying layers of colour or colours to leather hard pottery and then scratching off parts of the layer to create contrasting images, patterns and texture and reveal the clay color underneath.
Next week, the potters will be tackling naked raku and guest judge and flower-making expert Rita Floyd will set a floral challenge.
Three contestants have been eliminated from this year’s Great Pottery Throw Down so far.
Ara was eliminated in week one after being challenged to make a cheese set and last week, Irina left the competition after making a 3D glowing house.
The Great Pottery Throw Down airs Sundays at 8pm on Channel 4.
