The Summer of love is finally upon us and we can’t wait for those 10 sexy singletons to enter the villa, and for the classic Love Island drama to unfold.
We’ve already enjoyed seven series of Casa Amor chaos, love triangles, cheating bombshells and friendship fallouts, all narrated by Iain Stirling.
With the first 10 contestants now officially revealed, people across the UK are gearing up for several weeks of being glued to the screen as the ITV dating show unfolds.
Although we’re still waiting for the bombshells to be revealed, so far, we do know footballer Michael Owen’s daughter Gemma is taking part, and the programme will also have its first-ever contestant with a cochlear implant, Tasha Ghouri.
But when do we finally get to see them enter the villa?
When does Love Island 2022 start?
Love Island’s eighth series will kick off on Monday, June 6.
Airing on ITV2, the first episode will be a bumper one, starting at 9pm and airing until 10:35pm.
Tweeting the news about the show’s return, the official account wrote: ‘Here’s your first hot date of the summer,’ the tweet read. ‘#LoveIsland is back Monday 6th June on @itv2 and @itvhub!’
The news comes after the first trailer for the new season was unveiled, which took a swipe at rival dating shows like First Dates and Davina McCall’s Language of Love.
Presented by Laura Whitmore, the show will air a new episode every night at 9pm, except on Saturdays when you’ll be getting a recap show instead.
How long will Love Island 2022 run?
While the date for the Love Island final hasn’t been released yet, if past series are anything to go by, we’ll have our eyes glued to the screen for more than a month.
While the dating show began with just 23 contestants appearing on the first series over the course of 41 days, the show’s length and cast count has risen since.
Series seven saw a whopping 37 islanders over the course of 58 days, while series six had 32 contestants and ran for 44 days.
Now, with series eight, who knows how many bombshells will be making appearances, and how long we’ll have to wait to see if the new King and Queen of the villa split the £50,000, or if one walks off with it all.
Love Island starts on June 6 at 9pm on ITV2.
