The Snow Girl
Netflix
There are a slew of outstanding foreign dramas buried in the depths of your Netflix library, and here’s another that might match your binge-watching needs.
Despite the title, we are in sunny Spain, where a young girl goes lost during a street celebration in Malaga. What follows is an intriguing operatic twist on a familiar narrative starring Milena Smit.
Available Friday.
Extraordinary
Disney+
Just when you thought your superpower batteries were running low, along comes a comedy jam-packed with enough fresh ideas to recharge them in an instant.
Jen (rising star Mairead Tyers) is our tragic heroine, one of the unlucky few who did not inherit a superpower when she turned 18, a fact her family and friends never let her forget. But what kind of superpower does she want?
Available today.
Grow
Channel 4
Denmark consistently ranks as the world’s happiest country, but you’d never know it from its television programming, which focuses on drugs and murder. Grow is another offering that showcases the dysfunctional side of the Danes as we follow a feuding family fighting over the drug trade.
It’s a moody grower (pardon the pun) with outstanding performances from real-life brothers Andreas and Sebastian Jessen as siblings on opposing sides of the law.
Available now.
The Legend Of Vox Machina
Prime Video
Season one of this animated action fantasy tale was a word-of-mouth smash following a Kickstarter effort, and it’s easy to understand why with its blend of clever humour and eye-popping fight scenes.
It’s based on Dungeons & Dragons gameplay, but there are also echoes of Game Of Thrones and a plethora of other fantasies, all combined with a crisp storyline that – take note, Rings Of Power – knows when to cut to the chase.
Season two available now.
