Hayden Christensen is returning to his original Star Wars role as Anakin Skywalker in new series Obi-Wan Kenobi.
The highly-anticipated six-part series is rewinding the clock on the franchise, as Obi-Wan Kenobi goes back towards the prequel films.
The action-packed adventure has finally come out 45 years after the first Star Wars movie, A New Hope, came out in 1977, which starred Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford in their iconic roles as Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Han Solo.
Along with Hayden returning as Darth Vader, a role he last played 17 years ago, Star Wars fans will also be reunited with Ewan McGregor’s Jedi Master.
The legendary Jedi will return as the series goes back to between Episode III and Episode IV of the films when Obi-Wan, set ten years after the events of 2005 film Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.
As well as Hayden, Sebastian Shaw and Jake Lloyd played Anakin, and Darth Vader in his iconic black suit was voiced by the likes of Bob Anderson and David Prowse.
But, despite Hayden not returning to the franchise in the films in between the prequels and Obi-Wan, he never actually stopped acting.
After his legendary Star Wars role, Luke went on to star in other films and television series’, including 2003 film Shattered Glass, which tells the true story of journalist Stephen Glass (played by Hayden), who was discovered to be fabricating stories.
In 2006, Hayden starred in Awake, alongside Jessica Alba, and later starred in the film Jumper, featuring Samuel L. Jackson, Jamie Bell and Rachel Bilson, who he dated for a while and now shares a daughter with.
He also appeared in horror film Vanishing on 7th Street with Thandiwe Newton in 2009, and with Idris Elba and Paul Walker in American crime drama Takers.
On returning to one of his original roles, Hayden, 40, revealed that it was ‘amazing’ to put his iconic costume back on, describing it as a ‘great honour’.
While he couldn’t go into too much detail ‘in terms of behind-the-scenes type stuff’, he did disclose how it felt to see Ewan, 51, back as the wise Jedi Master Obi-Wan after almost two decades.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, he said: ‘I can tell you the first time that I saw Ewan as Obi-Wan again, that was a very special moment for me and one that I’ll remember for a very, very long time.’
