Mrs Brown’s Boys star Brendan O’Carroll has ignited an almighty backlash after making a ‘racist’ remark about Tyler Perry on The One Show.
The actor, who plays Agnes Brown in the BBC sitcom, joined the programme alongside the Madea star to promote their new Netflix comedy A Madea Homecoming.
But their interview was quickly slammed by viewers after Brendan was asked by presenters Lauren Laverne and Harry Judd whether Tyler could ever guest star on Mrs Brown’s Boys.
Here’s everything you need to know about what was said.
What did Brendan O’Carroll say on The One Show?
After speaking about their time on the set of A Madea Homecoming, Brendan revealed why Tyler might not feature on Mrs Brown’s Boys any time soon.
‘He’s very expensive,’ Brendan told the presenters. ‘And so far we haven’t had anyone of his colour in there,’ he added, while gesturing to his own face.
‘So I don’t know if we could have him in but… I’d love that, but more importantly, I’d love to do another movie with him.’
Tyler started to laugh as Brendan made the comment and then repeated the words back to Brendan, saying: ‘Nobody my colour?’
