Vanessa Feltz believes former Prime Minister Liz Truss has nothing to lose by competing on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! forest, and she should go in and collect the money.
Truss, who headed the Conservative Party for 44 days, is said to be joining the reality program, in which former health minister Matt Hancock came in third place last year.
Hancock, who was reportedly paid £400,000 for his appearance on the program, got a whopping £320,000.
Truss is following suit, according to The Sun, and is currently placed at 25/1 to be among the next batch of celebs to enter the wild.
Some people, however, are not pleased to see another lawmaker on the television show.
Feltz and Matthew Wright addressed Truss’ rumoured stint on Friday’s This Morning, opposite Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond, with Feltz saying: ‘She’ll be there longer than she was prime minister!’
Wright continued: ‘I know Matt Hancock did “very well” in as much as he finished third but almost as soon as he came out, we learnt a lot more about Matt Hancock’s work as health secretary during Covid.
‘And I personally didn’t think he should have been in there in the first place and by the end of it, maybe it was a mistake to put him in and I have to say, Liz Truss, that would also be a huge mistake.
‘If you’re going to put ex-politicians in to make a few quid then why not move Parliament to the jungle and do it all there.’
Feltz added: ‘I think there are some stories, for example all that stuff about her really expensive luncheon demands and coffee demands, remember that story?’
She continued: ‘There have been a few well known shenanigans in her past as well, which everyone knows about, on the record.
‘There may be a fruity, divaish side.’
Talking about whether she should go in, Feltz added: ‘I think she lost all semblance of her dignity and legacy when she fell out of favour so incredibly fast.’
‘So I mean, I don’t think she’s got much to salvage in terms of dignity and political reputation really, I think she might as well go in and take the money and beep off, quite frankly.’
Before contemplating an appearance in the jungle, Truss appears to be debating whether she will accept Joe Lycett’s invitation to appear on his forthcoming program, Late Night Lycett.
Lycett took out a full-page ad in Truss’ local newspaper this week to tell his ‘babe’ of his unflinching support.
‘I’ll be honest, Liz – I miss you…not just in Downing Street but from my life,’ he wrote.
Lycett said he had spent ‘the last few months plotting your route back to power’, adding: ‘I think I’ve found the ideal first step. I’ve got a new live tv show starting on March 31 at 10pm on Channel 4 (thanks to your successor accidentally forgetting to abolish it) and I would love for you to join us.’
He added: ‘We’d give you a platform, allow you to speak your mind and provide at least three glasses of Echo Falls Pinot Grigio.’
This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV1.
