Top Boy’s third and last season will premiere on Netflix in September, and although fans are ecstatic, many are unhappy that the show’s conclusion is near.
The streaming service released the first teaser for season five, which saw Ashley Walters’ Dushane and Kane Robinson’s Sully at odds, with tensions between them nearing a boiling point.
Sully, with tears in his eyes, asks his long-term companion, ‘How do you think we survived all this time?’ in the brief 36-second film. Consider where we came from. Take a look at it.’
‘If we’re not monsters, we’re food,’ he says after a brief pause. ‘And I’d never be food.’
The two is later spotted battling in their favourite hangout, the café.
Fans are already bursting with anticipation over the new series, with one writing: ‘I’m ready bruv!!! I’ve missed Sully!!!’
‘MY CHESTTTTT I CANNOT,’ another exclaimed, while a third added: ‘LET’S GO!!!’
Others aren’t ready to say goodbye to the show just yet. ‘I ain’t ready for this to be the last season man,’ said one.
Ronan Bennett’s Top Boy is set on the fictitious Summerhouse estate in Hackney and follows the two as they aspire to become the Top Boys.
Last season, Micheal Ward’s Jamie became a major player and was sent to Spain and Morocco to help work out a deal, but in the series finale, he was killed by Sully.
Speaking about bringing the popular series to a close, Walters told Netflix’s Tudum publication: ‘With something as great as this, you should end on a high, and that’s what we’re doing.
‘We’re all battling on a daily basis to make sure that we give our audience and the fans of the show the most amazing ending that we can.’
It was already confirmed that Barry Keoghan and Brian Gleeson will join the programme, as will rapper Little Simz, actual name Simbi Ajikawo.
