Holly Willoughby is feeling ‘relieved’ after her mum received the Covid-19 vaccine.
At the beginning on Tuesday’s This Morning, Holly told viewers and her co-host Phillip Schofield that her mum had just sent her to text to say she’d had her jab.
As they were discussing today’s phone-in topic which was all about sharing good news, Holly explained she had some good news of her own.
‘I’ve got a bit of good news today,’ she began.
‘My mum has just had her vaccine.’
‘Oh, good,’ Phillip replied.
Holly continued: ‘She just text me “Just done”. She’s in the over 70s category so she got the call and she’s gone so that is a relief.
‘It’s incredible isn’t it? Really amazing.’
Later on in the show, Gyles Brandreth appeared via video link wearing a bright blue NHS jumper where he explained to the hosts that he had also had his jab.
This week it was reported that more than eight million people in the UK had received the Covid vaccine so far.
The rollout of the vaccine has been extended to over 70s and those who are clinically extremely vulnerable as part of the government’s aim to vaccinate 14 million people by mid-February.
All those who are 65-years-old and over are next in line to receive their vaccine invites, after the 70s and clinically extremely vulnerable have had theirs.
Phase two of the vaccination plan will move on to those at high risk of catching the disease such as key public service workers, but no dates have been announced
A definitive timeline for those not included in phase one or two is yet to be shared with the public.
This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
