Celebrity Big Brother has invited Gyles Brandreth to appear.
The broadcaster and novelist, a personal friend of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, had turned down the reality programme but may reconsider.
On Tuesday, This Morning hosts Rylan Clark and Josie Gibson discussed Celebrity Big Brother reboot line-up speculations, including Katie Price and Phillip Schofield, and Gyles’ prospective presence.
In November, ITV announced the revival of the legendary reality programme after a seven-year hiatus, after the success of Big Brother, which had its highest viewership in almost a decade.
Josie, 38, asked Gyles, 75, whether he would appear on the show, wondering if Sarah Ferguson or Louis Walsh had participated.
‘Well, I have been asked. Yes I have been asked, but I say no to these things, he replied.
In reference to the Bushtucker Trials on I’m A Celebrity, he continued: ‘But this is the one [where] you don’t have to eat worms and things, it’s quite civilised.’
Gyles approached Josie, who became famous after winning Big Brother in 2010, and Ryan, who won Celebrity Big Brother in 2013, about their experience when he considered joining.
Rylan stated his Celebrity Big Brother co-star Claire Richard was his bridesmaid and that the housemates became like family.
Josie said she ‘loved’ being on the programme, but it reminded her of being a child since you’re ‘stripped of everything and vulnerable.’
Gyles suggested a huge price may convince him to go on Celebrity Big Brother, despite his past rejections.
Addressing Josie and Rylan, he said: ‘Now I’m hearing about the money you get. When you did it it was housekeeping money.’
‘But it’s Farage money now,’he continued, in reference to reports that Nigel Farage was paid £1,500,000 to appear on I’m A Celebrity last year.
Sarah Ferguson, a member of the Royal Family, was reportedly believed to have entered Celebrity Big Brother 2024, with rumours that she was paid £500,000.
However, the Duchess’s spokeswoman later disputed the rumours, adding, ‘This news is total nonsense.
‘The Duchess will not be appearing on this show.
‘As is widely known, she does not consider reality TV formats.’
Announcing CBB’s return, ITV previously said: ‘Celebrity Big Brother will see a new cast of famous faces isolated from the outside world as they embark on the ultimate social experiment, taking up residence in the iconic Big Brother house.
‘Leaving luxury behind, the celebrities will take part in weekly nominations and tough tasks with cameras capturing their every move.
‘Who will win the hearts of the nation, go all the way to the finish line and be crowned the winner?’
There is no official start date for the next season, however it is expected that ITV will premiere Celebrity Big Brother in the first few months of 2024.
The celebrity series formerly broadcast on Channel 4 and Channel 5 between January and March.
This Morning airs on ITV from 10am on weekdays
