The Simpsons is set to bring back a major character from the show’s first season after 33 years.
In the shortened premiere series, which contains only 13 episodes, Homer (Dan Castellaneta) and Marge’s (Julie Kavner) marriage faces many tests.
In the 10th episode, Homer’s Night Out, Marge kicks Homer out of the house after he is photographed dancing with Princess Kashmir, a belly dancer during a bachelor party.
And a week earlier, in Life On the Fast Lane, Marge finds herself unimpressed with Homer’s idea to buy himself a bowling ball for her 34th birthday.
To spite Homer, Marge takes up bowling herself – at the bowling alley, she meets Jacques, a bowling instructor who attempts to pursue an affair with her.
Marge ultimately turns Jacques down and returns to Homer, visiting him at work during the day in one of the show’s most famous endings.

Marge eventually rejects Jacques and returns to Homer, paying him a visit at work during the day in one of the show’s most iconic endings.
Jacques is returning to Springfield on Sunday (March 19), 33 years after he last appeared significantly in an episode. His motives are unknown.
The Simpsons, which is already in its 34th season and is the longest-running TV sitcom in American history, will bring Jacques back during Pin Gal, the 17th episode of the new season.
When marketing the episode, showrunner Al Jean, who worked on the programme in its early days, announced Jacques’ reappearance on social media.
‘Don’t nap on new episode Sunday. Pin Gal with the return of Jacques!’, Jean said, with fans noticing it will air 33 years and one day since his first appearance.
Jacques, played by actor Albert Brooks, has been on The Simpsons several times since that episode aired in 1990, although only in brief appearances.
In the seventh season episode Team Homer, in which Homer forms a bowling team called the Pin Pals, Jacques is a member of a competing team called The Homewreckers.
Princess Kahsmir is among the fleeting characters from The Simpsons that once jeopardised Homer and Marge’s marriage.
Jacques was also a member of the enraged mob who stormed The Simpsons’ home in 2007’s The Simpsons Movie.
Lizzo, a Simpsons superfan, will also make an unexpected cameo later in the next season, in the episode Homer’s Adventure: Through the Windshield Glass.
The Simpsons is available to stream on Disney Plus.
