Olivia Colman is set to make her long-awaited guest appearance in the Simpsons this weekend, and new images have given a glimpse of what fans can expect.
The Oscar-winning actress is set to star in the series on Sunday in an episode titled The 7 Beer Itch, which marks the Simpsons’ 689th show.
Her character is described as a ‘British femme fatale’ named Lily, and the new pictures show her resembling Colman with short brown hair.
As the episode synopsis explains, The 7 Beer Itch sees the Simpsons family leave home for Martha’s Vineyard without Homer.
While alone in Springfield, Homer finds himself ‘unwittingly tempted’ by Lily, with new pictures showing her taking Homer by surprise and stealing a kiss.
The description also says that ‘Mr. Burns makes Homer his romantic go-between with extremely unintended consequences’.
Speaking about Olivia’s character, executive producer Al Jean told Variety: ‘She’s the woman every man falls for, she’s so charming. But the one man she wants is someone who doesn’t want her, Homer.’
Al also revealed that he considers the actress ‘one of the best guest stars we’ve ever had.’
There’s a British feel to the 32nd season of the show, with Stephen Fry and Sir Michael Palin also set to make guest appearances.
It was also recently revealed that George Takei turned down the chance to appear in a classic Simpsons episode Marge vs the Monorail, because he didn’t want to make fun of monorails.
The Simpsons episode The 7 Beer Itch airs in the US at 8pm on on Nov. 8 on Fox. A UK air date has yet to be confirmed.
