The OC celebrated its 20th anniversary on Instagram, with stars like Rachel Bilson, Olivia Wilde, and Ben McKenzie – but where did all that time go?
The OC, an American adolescent drama that debuted in 2003, featuring stars such as Guardians of the Galaxy’s Chris Pratt and Divergent actress Shailene Woodley before they became famous.
The sitcom featured the adolescent hardships and tribulations of a group of rich pals living in Newport Beach, Orange County, California.
The luxury of that aspirational lifestyle mixed with the bright weather to provide viewers with a lovely infusion of escapism for four seasons, with the series finishing in 2007.
(Plus, everyone knows Phantom Planet’s earworm theme song California.)
McKenzie, 44, starred in The OC as Ryan Atwood, a troubled adolescent from the wrong side of the tracks who is taken in and adopted by the Cohen family.
In honour of the performance, McKenzie shared an Instagram selfie with actor Adam Brody, who played Seth Cohen, Ryan’s best friend and adopted brother, on Saturday.
‘The OC premiered 20 years ago today,’ he opened his message.
‘I keep showing my kids pics to prove how cool I used to be, but for some reason they don’t seem to get it.’
Bilson, 41, also shared a photo on Instagram with the message “Twenty.”
Summer Roberts, Brody’s character Cohen’s love interest, was played by the actress, who was noted for her often overly theatrical disposition.

Or as one fan put it in the comments below the picture: ‘I can hear Summer Roberts saying “Chino?! Ew!”’
‘I love that we can all hear this photo 😂,’ added another.
Director of Don’t Worry Darling Wilde, 39, also reminisced on the show and reposted a photo of herself with Mischa Barton to her Instagram story.
Wilde wrote: ‘Ok I see it’s (The OC) having a moment because it premiered 20 years ago.’

She added: ‘Mischa = One of the most beautiful faces I’ve ever seen. I remember just being like whoooaaaaa.’
Alex Kelly, played by Wilde, dates both Cohen and Barton’s disturbed but sensitive heroine, Marissa Cooper.
Melinda Clarke, who played Marissa Cooper’s mother Julie Cooper on the programme, uploaded a photo of herself and Peter Gallagher (Sandy Cohen) on Instagram, and couldn’t believe the show was that old.
‘Wait Whut?! We’re how old? #20yearstoday #foreveryoung,’ she mused.
Josh Schwartz, creator and executive producer of The OC, reposted a photo from the show to his social media which said: ‘Yes I am feeling old. Thanks.’
You’re welcome Josh, so are we.
