The Great Pottery Throwdown is set to come to a clay-mactic ending this evening, with the final in sight and only three potters left in the nail-biting competition.
Judges Keith Brymer Jones and Rich Miller will have their work cut out tonight, as they prepare to crown one lucky potter the winner of the show, while Siobhán McSweeney and Ellie Taylor return to present.
So, who are the three hopefuls for tonight’s final and what will the winner of the competition get?
Who is in the final for the Great Pottery Throwdown?
There are just three contestants left in the final for the Great Pottery Throwdown, which will be broadcast tonight on Channel 4.
AJ Simpson
AJ Simpson is the youngest competitor on the show, at just 21 years old. The potter is a design student from Aberdeen, who fell in love with pottery after starting a 3D design course at university.
They also love the process of collecting raw materials by hand, and incorporating them into her work.
Anna McGurn
Anna McGurn, from Fermanagh, Northern Ireland, is the second finalist to make it through to the final competition of the show.
The 57-year-old describes herself as a ‘messy home potter working out of a corner of a leaky old cold shed, making stuff on a treadle wheel and doing a spot of handbuilding too’
Christine Cherry
The third finalist is also 57, and is named Christine Cherry. Christine is a youth art worker from Preston, who has returned to pottery after giving up her 20-year teaching career.
She’s a massive fan of pottery, so much so that she invested in her own wheel, but her real-life passion lies in casting porcelain.
What does the winner get?
The winner of the Great Pottery Throwdown wins the pure glory of achievement that goes with winning the competition.
There is no cash prize, so the mere boost in self-esteem that’s granted from the win is prize enough.
Go forth, potters, and may the best among you win!
