The Chase star Mark Labbett was designated driver as he hit the road with his co-stars Shaun Wallace and Anne Hegarty to head across the US.
On Thursday night, fans got to see the Chasers embark on a trip to explore the intelligence of animals compared to humans, with Shaun, Mark and Anne getting to grips with a chimp, an orangutan and dolphins.
Their journey took them to Iowa, Illinois and Indianapolis, with Mark decided to sit behind the wheel and manoeuvre the gang’s winnebago for the first leg.
However, fans were left fearing for the Chasers while watching The Chasers Road Trip on ITV, thanks to Mark’s questionable driving that saw him mounting curbs and getting a little too close to parked cars for Anne’s liking.
Knocking into the curb of a sidewalk at one point, Mark shrugged: ‘I thought I was miles clear,’ as Anne hit back: ‘Yes, I know because you can’t tell.’
Viewers were left in hysterics over the funny scenes and flocked to Twitter to comment on Mark’s driving.
‘Oh god, who let Mark drive?’ questioned one viewer, while one fan joked: ‘Is Mark Labbett trying to kill off his fellow chasers?’
‘Nice driving there Mark,’ teased another, while one more said: ‘@MarkLabbett loving the driving of the RV in #thechasersroadtrip inner bus driver coming out there #legend.’
Comparing Mark’s driving to The Chase’s host Bradley Walsh, who is seen behind the wheel of an RV on his show Breaking Dad, one fan tweeted: ‘Lol Bradley Walsh’s driving seems so peaceful compared to Mark’s.’
Not a fan of the winnebago, Mark told Shaun and Anne at one point: ‘I’m really not enjoying driving on these narrow roads with this big vehicle,’ – only for one fan to joke: ‘Narrow roads in the USA….. more like, his driving is bad.’
Anne looked a little distressed while sitting in the passenger seat, prompting one viewer to tweet: ‘I’d be needing a glass of wine if I was Anne #thechasersroadtrip.’
The first leg of the Chasers’ road trip saw them put their own intelligence up to the test against a number of different species.
They faced off against a Bonobo ape called Kanzi, a gaming orangutan called Katie and the trio stopped by a research centre looking after dolphins, where they were tasked with mimicking behavioural signals while isolating their senses.
As well as making their way across the US, the Chasers will then head back home to the UK to face off against child geniuses, before touching down into Japan to explore the art behind Artificial Intelligence.
The Chasers Road Trip continues next Thursday on ITV at 9pm.
