Paul Sinha has confessed that he proposed to his now-husband with a £20 Topshop ring.
After proposing to him in Rome 11 months earlier, the Chase star married his long-term lover Oliver Levy in December 2019.
Paul described the moment he decided he wanted to marry Oiver on Thursday’s Loose Women with the Loose Men panel Tommy Fury, Martin Kemp, and Vernon Kay.
Following a conversation in which Tommy mentioned his aspirations to marry partner Molly-Mae Hague and her desire to marry overseas, Paul, 52, explained: ‘Everyone deserves their moment in the sun and their moment of happiness.
‘You look at someone and you go, “You’re never going to be happier than you are with that one person” and you think, “Why not make it official?”‘
Recalling the moment he felt that with Olly, Paul shared: ‘I never wanted to get married and I don’t think Oliver ever wanted to get married.
‘And then one Christmas, in 2018, family Christmas dinner, I just got drunk and started looking around at my family and realised that Oliver, who gets on so well with my nephew and niece and who love him back and call him Uncle Olly, was very much part of the family.
‘And I thought to myself, I don’t think our relationship will change that much if we get married, but I think it would be a really good stability thing, and something for the nephew and niece to look up to, a real Uncle Olly.’
He joked: ‘I was drunk!’
Paul went on: ‘It had never occurred to me before that Christmas that it was exactly the right thing to do, but you look at someone and go, you’re never going to be happier than you are with that one person.
‘You think, why not make it official?’
Paul then acknowledged that he proposed “seven days later in Rome,” before revealing that his ring, which he “thoroughly recommended” to viewers and Love Island‘s Tommy, was from “Topshop.”
‘£20 from Topshop! Because the one thing I knew was that he wouldn’t value an expensive ring, that’s not what drives the relationship,’ Paul said.
‘It’s companionship and love and having fun, it’s not the value of jewellery.
‘So I didn’t want to spend any money on the ring because that’s more money I could spend on the wedding.’
Six months before his wedding, the quiz show host and stand-up comedian was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, which he vows to “fight with every breath I have.”
Sharing a health update ahead of the special edition of Loose Women to mark Mental Health Awareness Week, Paul said: ‘It will get tougher for me.’
I've been trying to load this for a while. 0130 my wedding. Our plans to perform The Impossible Dream in alcoholic ruin. I don't know any of the words. Just keep reminding myself how happy I was. An epic yawn from one of my mates. pic.twitter.com/9wXhcsbHhv

He added to The Mirror: ‘In the years that I have ahead of me, I want to do my best to show that it doesn’t have to ruin your quality of life, and that you can fight against the stereotypes others have of you.
‘For that reason, when I’m out and about, I try even harder to look my best. I want people to know that I am not vanishing, I’m still fighting as hard as ever.’
Loose Women airs weekdays from 12.30pm on ITV1.
