With a possible match confessing she’s already in a relationship and bringing her partner on a date, The Bachelor Australia has broken new ground.
The current season of the Australian show has already set a precedent by featuring not one, not two, but three bachelors hunting for love.
One of them is Felix Von Hofe, a 27-year-old marketing manager, sports commentator, and former professional basketball player who is just getting started with the ladies.
Jessica Navin, a 25-year-old bridal stylist who entered the show already in a relationship, is one of the women battling for his heart.
Jessica, who practises ethical non-monogamy, was granted her boyfriend’s approval to sign up and put herself out there to try to find another partner.
However, in what a first for the franchise globally, things got a little bit awkward once her boyfriend Damien turned up for one of her dates.

On Tuesday’s episode, Damien goes the mansion to meet the man his girlfriend is dating, and then joins the group for a lunch date.
The two were very courteous, however Felix did say he’d been hard to come to grips with it all.
‘It’s so foreign to me as a concept … it’s obviously an uncomfortable thing to wrap my head around,’ he told Damien.
At the same time, the other contenders were irritated that Jessica and her boyfriend’s presence was overshadowing their chance to spend more time with Felix.
‘The whole group date was essentially about Damien, Jess and Felix – it was not what I expected, to be honest,’ contestant Zara said.
Another, called Alesia, added: ‘Everyone’s a bit like, “What’s going on?” There’s a time and a place and it’s not here, because everyone has lost time with the guy they’re here to get to know.’
In a previous episode, one of the other females raced to tell another Bachelor, Jed McIntosh, about Jess’ boyfriend after learning about her relationship status, forcing her to confront Felix about the fact that she wasn’t truly single.
While Felix stated that he desired a monogamous relationship, he also stated that he was open to spending more time together and strengthening their relationship.
Meanwhile, Jess has already expressed her reservations about appearing on the show owing to her views on monogamous partnerships.
‘There are all these different ways of going about relationships and, before I settle down and have my own kids and stuff, I think this is the time in my life where I should explore my sexuality and those different ways of going about relationships,’ she told Who.
However she also said on the episode that she was hesitant if she did want two partners after leaving the show, but took a rose from Felix.
The other two Bachelors looking for love this season are singer Jed, 25, and restaurant manager Thomas Malucelli, 35.
The Bachelors airs on Channel Ten in Australia.
