Paul Bowen, an Apprentice applicant, has said that he wears a wig to bolster his confidence.
The 34-year-old from Lancashire, who was sacked on the most recent episode of the BBC show for failing to satisfy Lord Alan Sugar, claimed he’s ‘never ashamed’ to discuss his hairpiece.
The Pie business director shared a snapshot of himself smiling in a mirror selfie.
In the first shot, he is flashing the peace sign and showing off his natural bald head, but in the second, he is wearing a nicely groomed wig that matches the colour of his facial hair.
He wrote: ‘Swipe for hair …. Never ashamed to say I wear hair.
‘Just like girls put a bit of lippy on, I put hair on I personally feel it makes me look better and it’s a confidence booster for me…’
This is not the first time Paul has publicly discussed his hair; in 2017, he went viral.
In the video viewed millions of time Paul excitedly purchased hair products in his local supermarket and exclaimed: ‘Now I’ve gotta pay for hair gel, hair spray’ after purchasing his first wig.
He then went on First Dates in 2018 and discussed how he sought to get a hair transplant but was informed it was too late in his hair loss journey.
‘So like 20 years old, it was pretty much gone. So I went to this clinic and said “I’m thinking about a hair transplant”.
‘And he was like “Yeah, sorry Paul, you’re too late for a hair transplant – it’s too far gone. The only thing for you is a no-surgical hair piece”.
‘”And I just went ‘a fucking wig?”‘ he recounted to his date.
He added: ‘I think people honestly think that lads don’t suffer with looks and I think girls expect this six foot five, tall, dark, handsome – meanwhile I’m like “alright”.’
Paul also recounted a moment when a woman refused to give him her phone number because of his baldness, which shook his confidence.
Although he did not find love on the programme, he is currently planning a wedding with girlfriend Emma Hindley! After posting the Instagram, Paul was supported by his fellow candidates including Ollie Medforth who said: ‘Amazing!! ’, while Jack Davies commented some clapping emojis and Sam Saadet said ‘Love this’.
Despite missing out on Lord Sugar’s £250,000 investment, Paul expressed his relief at having departed the programme.
‘It’s kind of a relief, like I’m done now, back to making pies,’ he stated.
The Apprentice airs Thursdays at 9pm on BBC One and Player.
