The Apprentice watchers have taken aim at this year’s contestants after they failed spectacularly in the first round.
The 18th season of the long-running reality series premiered on Thursday night, with 18 hopefuls hoping to convince Lord Alan Sugar to invest £250,000 in their firm.
However, after the first test, they will have their job cut out for them, since both the boys and girls teams suffered catastrophic failures.
Their mission took them to the Scottish Highlands, where each team was assigned to either escort corporate customers on a work trip to adventure activities or cook meals for when they returned.
However, both groups who volunteered to help in the kitchen faced stunning mishaps, with Noor Bouziane unaware that she had covered the fishcakes in the crumble meant for their desserts rather than breadcrumbs.
Meanwhile, on the boys’ side, Oliver Medforth was tasked with cooking brownies despite having no baking expertise.
Inevitably, everything went awry, with Oliver not knowing the difference between a teaspoon and a tablespoon, and then forgetting to add flour to the brownie mix before cooking.
Unsurprisingly, folks watching from home had a lot to say as events unfolded.
‘Catching up with The Apprentice. Haven’t laughed so hard in ages. Christ, they’re abysmal,’ user bigwows shared on X.
‘Hats off to the producers of @bbcapprentice … for managing to find such incompetent candidates,’ Scott Elliott shared.
‘They’re all crumbling. I’m embarrassed for them. They’re all quite thick. Probably clever but not an ounce of common sense between them,’ Pauline added.
Keith Robinson was slightly less forgiving, writing: ‘I look at these contestants and fear for humans existence.’
Meanwhile Jessica called the series ‘comedy gold’ after watching the total shambles play out.
Speaking after being booted, Oliver shared how he’d managed to turn his flourless mishap into an actual business.
He was motivated to create a new brand called Ollternative after claiming that the brownies produced were ‘truly very, really excellent’.
‘So it’s no flour, all flavour of the brownies,’ he said.
‘So where I made a mess up, I tried to utilise it and I’ve learnt from that mistake, and they taste really, really good.’
Given Oliver’s family runs a distillery, they have also launched a salted caramel chocolate brownie vodka, and says that he now has ‘brownies coming out of his ears’, with flavours including Nutella, chocolate orange and salted caramel.
The Apprentice continues next Thursday at 9pm on BBC One and is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
