After hearing the value of her diamond brooch, an Antiques Roadshow guest tried to hold back her emotions.
In the most recent episode, which aired in Morayshire, Scotland, the woman presented her prized possession to jewellery expert Susan Rumfitt.
Susan said that the brooch dated back to the 1930s after disclosing that she only wears it in the nights.
‘It’s got a sense of theatre about it, sort of plays away on its own with its beautiful diamonds. It’s magnetic,’ she enthused.
Susan described the item as odd, revealing that she was frequently able to disassemble bow brooches but not this one, which stayed in one piece.
After examining the item, the expert informed her that the diamond brooch really weighed ’14 carats,’ leaving the visitor speechless.
‘In an auction, I’d expect it to fetch in excess of £20,000.’
Clearly shocked by the valuation, the guest replied: ‘Oh my goodness! Taking my breath away that.
‘That’s amazing, brings tears to my eyes.’
The audience erupted in excitement when she said that understanding the worth of her grandmother’s brooch had come as a surprise to her.
The appraisal affected viewers as well, with one person writing on social media, ‘£20,000 wow, it’s much more gorgeous than I initially thought…’
‘£20,000, cruise incoming,’ another added.
A third joked: ‘That brooch is literally eye catching. It’ll take your eyes out!
Antiques Roadshow airs on Sundays at 8pm on BBC One.
