Susanna Reid has stated that Amanda Abbington must have a’reason’ for supposedly wanting footage of her Strictly Come Dancing training with Giovanni Pernice.
Susanna, the Good Morning Britain anchor who competed on Strictly in 2013 with Kevin Clifton, addressed the new claims while hosting the ITV daytime show.
‘It’s a shame for anyone who didn’t have a good experience, because, at its best, it is a sparkling wonderland,’ the 53-year-old began.
‘Obviously, some contestants don’t have that experience. I am, sure Amanda has reason to ask for that footage it seems.’
Susanna’s comments refer to recent accusations that Amanda, 51, made the request after receiving legal counsel.
A source told The Sun: ‘The BBC has received a request for the footage they hold of Amanda and Giovanni. It is known as a data subject access request.
‘There is a feeling that the recordings will lift the lid on what really goes on behind the scenes on Strictly. Things in rehearsals can become very tense.’
They claimed that the actress was ‘really stressed by having to spend eight hours a day with Giovanni’, and ‘spent a lot of time crying’.
Amanda has updated her social media settings. If you have a public Instagram account, almost anybody may like and comment on your posts.
However, Amanda, or the person who manages the account, has opted to change her choices. When you click the speech bubble icon, you will now see the message: ‘Comments on this profile have been limited’. This might imply that just a limited few individuals can remark, or that she exclusively follows those accounts back.
Currently, the majority of Instagram users are unable to type anything underneath Amanda’s social media postings. This should imply that the area is filled with support from individuals she knows, and she does not want to see criticism from those she does not know, which may include Giovanni fans.
Giovanni, 33, has subsequently been guaranteed of his position on the prime-time show, according to the tabloid.
A phone discussion allegedly occurred between Giovanni’s management and Strictly bosses to discuss the recurring reports and to ensure his well-being.
An insider remarked ‘there are two sides to every story’.
‘The feeling is he is a tough taskmaster, but hasn’t bullied or abused anyone.
‘The BBC see him as a key face of Strictly and will do all they can to support him,’ the insider concluded.
Amanda opted to leave the show after only four performances, citing ‘personal reasons’.
In her Instagram post announcing her leaving, she mentioned her fellow contestants and the ‘incredible’ production staff, but did not specifically thank Giovanni.
