Nadiya, 31, who joined Strictly in 2017, made an appearance on Friday night’s episode of Strictly spin-off show It Takes Two.
During the programme, the Ukrainian-Slovenian dancer performed 25 fleckerls in 30 seconds as part of the show’s annual pro challenge, which 15 of the show’s dancers have taken part in this year.
Not only was Nadiya’s achievement impressive to watch, but it also earned her a Guinness World Record.
A fleckerl is a dance move often performed during a Viennese waltz, when a dancer spins at a rapid pace on the spot.
While taking part in the dance challenge, the Strictly professionals had to ensure each fleckerl consisted of six steps. If the move didn’t include six steps, it wasn’t counted.
Judge Craig Revel Horwood was on hand to assess Nadiya’s attempt, in addition to Official Guinness World Records adjudicator Sofia Greenacre.
Nadiya’s world record of 25 consecutive fleckerls in 30 seconds made her the winner of the 2020 pro challenge, while Neil Jones came in second with 24.
Karen Hauer and Dianne Buswell came in joint third with 23 fleckerls each, while former temporary judge Anton Du Beke achieved 19.
In last place was Gorka Marquez, who managed 13 fleckerls.
Massive props to Nadiya!
Saturday night’s show will see the remaining dancers perform two routines each for the semi-final.
It Takes Two airs on weekdays at 6.30pm on BBC Two. Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday at 7pm on BBC One.
