It has been over three years after the premiere of Squid Game, and Netflix has finally released a first peek trailer for Season 2.
Fans of Hwang Dong-hyuk’s dystopian drama have been clamouring for more since the first season, which broke streaming records during lockdown, became an unexpected blockbuster.
And, while the real-life reality version of the programme satisfied their cravings for a few weeks, their demands have now been fully granted with a preview trailer of the follow-up, which, while being only 17 seconds long, delivers a punch.
In the video, Lee Jung-jae, who played Seong gi-hun, the games’ lone survivor, is seen with pink hair going through what appears to be a train station or airport.
By an ominous voice speaking to him on the phone, he’s heard being told: ‘You’ll regret your decision.’
Looking menacing, Seong gi-hun refuses to back down and replies: ‘I will find you. No matter what it takes.’
The clip prompted a flurry of excited tweets on X with Harish among the fans declaring: ‘#SquidGame2 The wait ends!’
‘Excited I hope #SquidGame2 will come in first half in 2024,’ Bunny Steev begged Netflix.
‘Can’t wait,’ Gina Loreena added simply.

While no narrative specifics for Squid Game season 2 have been revealed, Dong-hyuk has already hinted at the topics and character arcs he would want to tackle.
He told The Hollywood Reporter: ‘There are some other stories in the series that have not been addressed. For example, the story of the police officer and the story of his brother, The Front Man.
‘I could also go into the story of that recruiter in the suit who plays the game of ddakji with Gi-hun and gives him the card in the first episode.’
‘I’ll just say there are a lot of possibilities out there for season 2 storylines,’ he added.
In an interview the following year, Dong-hyuk dropped more hints about what to expect, revealing: ‘Humanity is going to be put to a test through those games once again.’
‘I want to ask the question, “Is true solidarity between humans possible?”‘ he added to Vanity Fair.
The first season of the South Korean survival drama series had individuals competing in a variety of hazardous children’s games for a large cash reward.
More than 100 million Netflix customers watched the nine-part series in its first 28 days, smashing previous records for viewership.
