Sophie Turner appears unrecognisable in the first trailer for her new ITV drama Joan, in which she plays one of the UK’s most renowned jewel thieves.
The Game of Thrones actress, 27, portrays Joan Harrington, better known as The Godmother, who operated in the 1980s in London’s dark criminal underbelly.
The Staircase actress looked every inch the intriguing and gorgeous Joan, with a cut bleached blonde hair, smoky eyes, and a vibrant red lip.
A black bomber jacket and a turquoise blue satin shirt completed the throwback look.
The six-parter begins with Joan, a fierce and uncompromising young lady in her twenties with a six-year-old kid who is locked in a tragic marriage with a violent criminal named Gary, according to the synopsis.
When Gary flees, Joan seizes the chance to start over for herself and her daughter, creating different identities and eventually becoming a skilled jewel thief.
Sophie, who is married to Joe Jonas, co-stars with Frank Dillane from Harry Potter, Kirsty J Curtis from Harlots, and Gershwyn Eustache Jnr from I May Destroy You.
The mother-of-two’s most recent TV appearance was in the HBO thriller The Staircase, which was based on the terrifying true-life documentary of the same name. Toni Colette and Colin Firth also appeared.
Prior to that, she voiced a character in the animated series The Prince and appeared in films such as the Netflix black comedy Do Revenge.
Sophie recently begged fans to remove a video of her kid that she had ‘accidentally’ put online.
‘Earlier today I made an honest mistake accidentally posting a video of our daughter on instagram stories,’ she said in a statement posted on Instagram.
‘We have always advocated for our kids’ rights to privacy so sharing this publicly is something that is against anything I stand for.’
The actress continued: ‘Our children deserve the right to grow up out of the public eye, to learn and grow in private. If I ever were to post anything of our kids, know that it is unquestionably a mistake.
‘I would greatly appreciate if anyone who has reposted on any other platform, please delete the video.’
Joan is coming to ITVX.
