Selling Tampa star Sharelle Rosado has opened up about the shocking moment she found out she was pregnant on-camera.
Season one of the Netflix reality series, a spin-off of Selling Sunset, debuted this week following Sharelle’s Allure Realty brokerage in Tampa, Florida which is made up of all women of colour.
*** Spoiler Warning ***
In episode six, Sharelle delivers the bombshell that she’s pregnant and expecting her first child with fiance Chad Ochocinco Johnson, yes, the famed former NFL player.
Of course, the cameras were there to capture the moment Sharelle found out herself, with the broker seen learning the results of a pregnancy test with her close friend and co-worker Juawana Colbert-Williams.
When asked if she really did find out on camera, Sharelle told Metro.co.uk: ‘Yes, I had a feeling and I contacted the producers like something’s not right. I feel like I’m pregnant and they told me to stand still, they got the cameras out and were like, “we’re coming to the house”.
‘Juawana was already here and they were like we’re going to reenact these scenes. But I didn’t take the test until I got on camera and I let Juawana see it. I was like, “Oh s**t”.’
‘I was crying and laughing at the same time, I had mixed emotions.’
In the next episode, Sharelle is filmed as she delivers the news to Chad, 43, via Facetime with him in Miami. Fortunately, he took the news well and proved to be a supportive partner.
It was the first glimpse viewers had of Chad on the series, with the previous six episodes focused on the business at Allure Realty.
Sharelle explained: ‘We definitely want to keep our businesses separate, I don’t want people to think this is Chad’s show or he got me this show. My business is different from him. This is about my agents, my business and myself, so I want to continue to focus it more on that.’
However, she did offer a glimpse of her children Ariana, 15, and youngest son Denim, five, from a previous relationship. Sharelle is also mother to son Marcus, 13, while Chad has seven children.
Her kids had different reactions to the baby news with Denim excited about his little brother or sister, but Ariana tearful and more concerned about having to move again as Sharelle was unsure on whether to remain in Tampa or relocate to Miami where Chad is primarily based.
Sharelle said of the heartfelt scene: ‘It was very emotional because I felt like for once I needed to value [Ariana’s] opinion because [me] being in the military, she didn’t have a choice. It was basically up and go and she had to relocate.
‘Now she has a choice and I feel like it will play a big role and I don’t want her to feel like I’m choosing a guy over her feelings and what she wants to do as well so it was hard. We talk about it all the time. I’m going with the flow but very supportive of what she wants to do as well.’
The businesswoman is due to give birth any day now and said of her pregnancy: ‘I felt like it went by so fast, I guess because of filming and everything and the late announcement.
‘It went by super fast but it’s been a great pregnancy so far, I have the support of my family, my fiance, everyone’s been so supportive and I couldn’t have asked for a better support system. I’m truly grateful.’
