Spoilers for Secret Invasion episode 3 follow.
Secret Invasion watchers were left stunned by the events of episode 3, in which Emilia Clarke’s character G’iah appeared to die tragically at the hands of antagonist Gravik (Kingsley Ben-Adir).
However, a clue sent by a fan on Twitter suggests that not all is as it appears… But we’ll be heartbroken till we get more information.
Gravik, the commander of the renegade hardline Skrulls, confronts G’iah at the conclusion of the episode after finding that she is the ‘traitor’ in his ranks who has been giving information back to her father Talos (Ben Mendelsohn).
Gravik raises his rifle at G’iah in her human form, and she insists on seeing her in the eyes while he murders her… And so he acts, mercilessly.
People viewing the episode couldn’t believe Emilia was killed off so early in the series, with just three episodes remaining… not to mention the anticipation that the Game of Thrones actor will feature in the MCU for a longer amount of time in the future.
‘I did NOT just wake up to see them kill Emilia Clarke on my screen again,’ one person tweeted, while another wrote: ‘They did not bring in emilia clarke just to kill her in the third episode 🤦♂️.’
However, other fans proposed solutions to this major surprise, suggesting that there is more to this than meets the eye.
First, there’s the possibility that G’iah staged her death. Sure, we saw her turn into her Skrull persona after being shot, which is usually an indicator that a Skrull has been murdered while taking the shape of a human, and we also saw the bloody bullet wound on her chest.
One fan posted screengrabs from upcoming Secret Invasion episodes that reveal further sequences with Emilia that haven’t yet occurred in the show, presumably implying that G’iah’s narrative isn’t done.
If G’iah is no longer alive, the human with the look of Emilia may still be alive… And there’s always the possibility that the human character may have a role in the MCU.

While some fans of the old Marvel drama Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. hope that Chloe Bennet would reprise her role as Daisy Johnson, aka Quake, might Emilia be taking over the character?
On the other hand, it was originally rumoured that Emilia was portraying Abigail Brand, a mutant in the Marvel comics, with other theories pointing to Jessica Drew, popularly known as Spider-Woman.
Jessica was impersonated by Skrull queen Veranke at one time in the Marvel comics, and she was able to tap into her talents and memories.
So many possibilities!
