Dancing on Ice 2024 has lost its second star.
Following Ricky Hatton’s resignation with partner Robin Johnstone last week, Hannah Spearritt was ousted from the ITV tournament only hours before the live broadcast.
Unlike last week, there was no skate off at the end of the performances, so viewers had the last word rather than judges Jayne Torvill, Christopher Dean, Ashley Banjo, and Oti Mabuse.
Unfortunately, Hannah and her professional partner Andy Buchanan’s time in the competition was up.
‘It was nice to finish on Elsa,’ she said, adding: ‘It’s been an absolute joy’.
The 42-year-old S Club singer disclosed she was fighting a health ailment just days before the 2024 series premiered.
She also revealed in a pre-recorded video shown on Sunday’s programme: ‘The show starts in three hours, I’ve had a fall. It is just a reminder that it is quite a dangerous thing that we’re doing.’
Hannah, who dropped out of the reunion tour with bandmates Tina Barrett, Jon Lee, Bradley McIntosh, Jo O’Meara, and Rachel Stevens after the death of Paul Cattermole at 46, announced the news earlier this year.
Given their history, Hannah’s departure from the band was assumed to be due to sadness, but in December she revealed an autoimmune health issue she’s been fighting for the previous several years, making her unable to cook at one point.
She revealed that her energy levels were’just terribly low’, preventing her from being the best she could be.
Hannah had previously mentioned suffering persistent weariness, cognitive fog, and vertigo.
She began experiencing symptoms in 2013 after receiving breast implants, and she and her husband, Adam Thomas, feel the problem was caused by two miscarriages in 2022 and stress.
The mum-of-two told Hello! magazine last month: ‘I don’t think I realised how much I’d deteriorated because it happened so gradually, I had no energy and couldn’t even get on a train or cook dinner.
‘That affected my mental health, too, because I’ve always been a physical and sporty person, it’s only when you get better and can do things you love again that you realise how bad things were.’
Hannah mentioned when she signed up for the show that she wanted to push herself beyond of her comfort zone and improve her fitness.
She said: ‘I’m really excited about learning a new skill.
‘It’s so easy to live your comfortable life and that aspect of mixing things up is very appealing.
‘Fitness is another reason why I’m doing it! It’s really exciting.’
Earlier this evening, there was more drama as anchor Holly Willoughby seemed to curse on television when Stephen Mulhern’s prank went horribly wrong.
The 42-year-old, after being heard saying ‘f**k off’ by viewers, later apologised, saying: ‘Now, a little bit earlier on, Stephen may have made me jump, and I think it may have sounded like a naughty word slipped out.
‘I don’t think I did! But I’m sorry if that’s what you thought you might have heard, but I don’t think I did.

‘I’ll watch it back on ITV player, because that’s where you can watch these things back. But I’m sorry!’
Stephen joked back: ‘I get the blame for everything at the moment, I’m new!’
The series has resumed with Holly as host, after rumours over her comeback following her departure from This Morning last year.
Stephen, 46, has taken over as co-host, after Phillip Schofield, who quit from ITV after acknowledging an ‘unwise but not illegal affair’.
So far, the season has had its fair share of drama, with two actors forced to withdraw due to injury.
Gogglebox’s Stephen Lustig-Webb fractured his ankle during training and was replaced by Olympic hero Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards.
Eddie’s professional partner Tippy Packard subsequently said that he had to leave the event due to an injury.
Only 10 celebrities left in the race, including Ryan Thomas, Adele Roberts, and Ricky Norwood.
Dancing On Ice airs Saturdays at 6.20pm on ITV1.
