Rose Ayling-Ellis noted that her deafness makes it difficult for her to converse with customer service departments.
The former EastEnders actress, 28, joined Kaye Adams, Nadia Sawalha, and Jane Moore on the panel for a special show to commemorate Deaf Awareness Week.
The former Strictly Come Dancing winner spoke about her experiences as a deaf person throughout the one-hour episode.
When asked about the struggles of being deaf, she said: ‘It’s the attitude, for example, customer service on the phone is really difficult, because I could email them but it takes days for them to reply.
‘So I can call them through my interpreter or call them through a text service. So I’m adapting, I’m doing all the work in order for that person to communicate with me.’
She continued: ‘And then when you do, they just think it’s a scam or you’re a hacker or it’s not secure enough – and then they hang up on you.’
Rose further noted that such scenarios make her feel ‘alone and ostracised.’
She added: ‘I want to be able to sort my banking and I’m doing all the work.’
Viewers appreciated Rose’s candour during her appearance on the daytime show, with many calling for her to become a’series regular.’
‘Rose is a breath of fresh air. Absolutely all for a lot more deaf representation on TV,’ one person tweeted.
‘PLEASE give rose a permanent panelist role!! she’s so funny and also is so inspiring to not just the deaf community but to ALL of us,’ another enthused.
Rose will celebrate the one-year anniversary of her pioneering silent routine with professional partner Giovanni Pernice in November 2022.
The couple danced to Clean Bandit’s Symphony, and their music was interrupted midway through, with Rose and Giovanni instead dancing in silence, a moment applauded by both viewers and judges.
On the night of the emotional routine, judge Motsi Mabuse said: ‘Sometimes it’s more than scores and marks and dances, sometimes it’s just a moment, and we just had that. Thank you so much.’
The pair also won a Bafta TV Award back in May for their iconic routine.
Loose Women airs weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV.
