The publication of a new documentary about disgraced performer and convicted paedophile Rolf Harris has shocked fans, who have expressed their outrage at the ‘absolute monster’.
Harris was arrested in 2012, a year after the death of revealed sexual abuser Jimmy Savile, as part of the Operation Yewtree police inquiry, which looked into sexual abuse claims made against Savile and other people.
While Harris, now 93, first denied any involvement and was released on bail without prosecution, he was caught again in 2013 and sentenced to five years and nine months in jail on 12 charges of indecent assault on four female victims, including a girl under the age of ten.
Three years later, three judges concluded that one of the 12 convictions was dangerous and reversed it.
Rolf Harris: Hiding in Plain Sight, a new two-part documentary from ITV, “tells the extraordinary truth behind the rise and fall of former national treasure Rolf Harris using rare archive and exclusive testimony from those closest to the trial.”
It premiered on ITVX on Thursday, May 18, and those who have already seen it are repulsed by his’skin crawling’ attitude.
‘Just watched this and cried many times for those girls, felt the impotent rage they must have been living with for so long. He tried to smear each of them, and has never uttered a word of remorse,’ one person tweeted.
‘This man was the one person I hoped at the time would turn out to be innocent. Loved him on TV when I was a kid. This is shocking to watch. An absolute monster,’ another said.
Someone person called the documentary “disturbing,” but praised it for being “sensitive in its presentation of Harris’ victims, some of whom are given voice in the programme.”
‘New documentary on @ITVX about #rolfharris is just skin crawling,’ one person wrote, saying that Harris had ‘all the markings of a predator’.
‘Makes you wonder how many others in “the business” have gotten away with this sort of rotten behaviour all because of who they are,’ they added.
Another penned: ‘Just finished watching the 2 part documentary about #rolfharris what an absolutely vile man!’
One horrifying scene in the video showed Harris advising Savile on his TV show Jim’ll Fix It that a young girl might be put in his ‘skilled hands’.
The second segment contained a revolting letter Harris wrote in jail and sent to his former promoter Chris Brosnan, in which he mentioned what he saw to be ‘injustices’ he’d endured.
