Rita Ora reflected on Beyonce’s ‘Becky with the good hair’ accusations after posting a picture of herself wearing a lemon bra back and a J pendant necklace in 2016.
The iconic track, titled Sorry, from Bey’s sixth studio album, Lemonade, sees her tell a cheating man to ‘call Becky with the good hair’, which alluded to husband Jay- Z’s infidelity accusations of deceit.
As the speculation continued to mount, the Your Song hitmaker posted a couple of tweets to make sure fans knew that she definitely wasn’t Becky, and people should just enjoy Queen B’s album.
During her latest sit-down with Louis Theroux, the journalist asked how about the suggestive bikini snap that sent the Beyhive into overdrive.
‘It was a coincidence, I didn’t even think about it I swear,’ she said. ‘It was one of my own designs.
‘This is what I mean, a pinch of salt, it was insane. I had to sit through that until a good friend of mine Katy Perry gave me a hilarious badge that said “not Becky.”‘
She added: It’s what the press do, everyone is interested in my personal life like everything else is not worthy. When things aren’t as juicy as my career achievements, it just becomes a little bit annoying.’
Elsewhere in the special, Rita addressed the reported fall-out with megastar Rihanna.
Both artists were signed to Jay-Z’s label Roc Nation, but in 2015 Rita took the music company to court to release herself from her contract after claiming she’d been neglected by the firm.
They countered with a $2.3 million (£1.9m) lawsuit, saying she hadn’t yet produced enough albums before they managed to reach a settlement.
Louis asked: ‘Why wasn’t the music coming out?’
‘I don’t know,’ she replied.
‘I was recorded for two or three years straight. There was a whole moment that was about to happen, I recorded a music video and they scrapped it. I felt really disappointed like I’d let them down.’
