The winner of Rise and Fall is Eddy Fulford, who was proclaimed champion following a nail-biting climax.
Fans have been following 16 participants separated into Rulers and Grafters over the previous few weeks, with the former living in the opulent penthouse of a high-rise building and the latter living in terrible conditions in the basement and obliged to perform cruel activities to acquire money for the prize pool.
Each competitor has the ability to either ascend to the penthouse or go to the basement, with just one remaining to win the £100,000 prize cash in the end.
The Rulers had to rely on the Grafters and returning fallen Rulers in Thursday’s last episode to secure their position in the final Red Room. Rossi was eliminated after a difficult bricklaying Work Shift as the final pounds were added to the reward pool.
Later, in the Red Room, Eddy, Matt, Moses, Ramona, and Sydney competed to see who could be the best Ruler and earn the £85,610 prize sum.
As the last five were removed one by one, the final two Rulers were delivery driver Sydney from West Lothian and software sales manager Eddy from Devon. Eddy was chosen as the winner by Matt, Moses, and Ramona.
After host Greg James said Eddy’s name, he said: ‘Thank you so much, I’m speechless at the moment… I think I need a pint of champagne…’
He continued: ‘I look at this game as an analogy for life. It has shown me that slow and steady wins the race, you don’t always have to be dog eat dog in this world… I never did well at school, never been top of the class and this feels like I’m top of the class. Oh my God!’
Runner up Sydney enthused: ‘I’m just hoping when my daughter watches this back she’s proud of me. But, you know what, Eddy deserves to win and he’s proved it all the way through. I am so so happy for him to win.’
Rise and Fall is available to stream on All4.
