*Warning: Contains spoilers for Game of Thrones. – Just in case you haven’t seen it*
Despite his character’s cruel early death, Game of Thrones actor Richard Madden spoke of his “fond memories” of working on the fantasy series.
For three seasons, 36-year-old Richard played the title character Robb Stark before being brutally murdered off at the notorious Red Wedding.
In the ninth episode of season three, Robb, his mother Catelyn (Michelle Fairley), and wife Talisa (Oona Chaplin) witnessed his supporters betray them during the wedding.
The three of them, along with thousands of their devoted warriors, were slaughtered during the festivities in one of the most devastating TV plot twists ever.
On social media, the moment went viral, and many people attribute Game of Thrones’ enormous global success to it.
Richard has stated that he had “fond memories” of working on the show, which went for a further five seasons and garnered several Emmy awards. This was ten years ago.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, he said: ‘I can’t believe that. That has aged me. I still have fond memories of that whole experience.’
He continued: ‘I mean, not of that particular scene, but the whole experience I have fond memories of.’
Richard was spoke with ET about his newest production, Citadel, an action-thriller on Amazon Prime Video that will start streaming on April 28.
His co-star in The Citadel, the 40-year-old Indian actress Priyanka Chopra-Jonas, made light of the fact that she “still has PTSD” from seeing the 2013 premiere of the episode.
Richard compared Game of Thrones to his and Priyanka’s upcoming show and stated, “It’s nice to be back into recurring series drama where you get time to tell a story.”
‘You get these huge payoffs like [the Red Wedding], three seasons deep. We got to have this horrible death with characters that you’re invested in.’
A number of Citadel spin-offs with international settings are already in the works for this ambitious series, which has already received a second season renewal.
‘I think that’s our ambition here [with Citadel],’ Richard said, ‘to create a huge world and get to know these people well.’
It was disclosed last month that an incident during the making of Citadel left Priyanka with a scar on her forehead.
‘I don’t even cover it anymore,’ she admitted.
Watch Citadel on Amazon Prime from April 28.
