Ranvir Singh didn’t seem shocked when a Trump supporter, dubbed a ‘Trumpette,’ mistook her for Lorraine Kelly while she was filling in on her midday show.
Toni Holt Kramer, creator and president of Trumpettes USA, joined the programme via video connection to discuss the charge of the former president.
On Tuesday afternoon, Trump pleaded not guilty to 34 charges of falsifying business records in Manhattan Criminal Court, and could face up to 136 years in prison for his alleged involvement in a $130,000 payment to porn actress Stormy Daniels to quiet her claims of an affair with him.
When discussing the case, Kramer maintained that she was a Trump supporter, but viewers were more perplexed by the way she treated Ranvir, constantly calling her Lorraine and even Kelly.
‘The thing you really don’t get it – I’m so sorry, I forgot your name,’ Kramer says as Ranvir tries to finish the section.
Ranvir assumed the remark was aimed at her after she’d been called Lorraine while she was chatting to another guest on the show, Robert.
Ranvir said: ‘I’m very honoured to be called Lorraine! You can rename me!’
Kramer replied: ‘I know your name Lorraine!’ to Ranvir, clarifying that she had missed Robert’s name.
‘This Trumpette doesn’t even know who she’s talking,’ one viewer laughed, while several others noted how Ranvir was first called ‘Lorraine’ then ‘Kelly’.
As the trio chuckled and the segment ended, Kramer continued: ‘You’re not looking at it correctly and I’m sorry that you don’t see it because if you love America and you’re in Florida then you should be absorbing what is going on throughout this country.’
As the debate carried on, Ranvir said: ‘I think she’s still talking, but she’s passionate, and that’s what we like on this show,’ clearly moving on from the name mistake.’
Lorraine airs weekdays from 9am on ITV1.
