Piers Morgan has invited Meghan Markle onto his new TalkTv show to ‘settle unfinished business’ after he quit Good Morning Britain over remarks about the Duchess of Sussex.
Following his exit from the news show he presented alongside Susanna Reid, he’s now joined forced with his former boss Rupert Murdoch to present a new show in which he aims to ‘cancel cancel culture’.
And he’s got his eyes on Meghan being among his first guests.
‘Fundamentally, what I want the show to do is be a platform for free speech and democratic debate,’ Piers said on Sky news Australia, where he’s currently on a self-promotion tour after flying over on Murdoch’s private jet.
‘And the right for people to come on and have their own opinion without being shamed and cancelled – because that’s the way back for society.
‘If Meghan Markle’s watching – I’m sure she is – if you want to be my first guest, we have a bit of unfinished business. I’m available.’
Meghan filed a complaint to Ofcom after Piers declared he refused to believe her allegations that Buckingham Palace ignored her mental health struggles when she has suicidal feelings.
Hers was of course one of many, with the presenter’s remarks sparking a record-breaking number of Ofcom complaints with the TV watchdog confirming it received more than 54,000 responses from angry viewers.
Regardless, Ofcom eventually ruled Piers was entitled to share his opinion
Not that the backlash discouraged him from continuing his tirade against the former Suits star anyway.
Celebrating the news of his new show at his beloved Scarsdale Tavern, in Kensington, Piers told The Sun: ‘And I need to say a special thank you Meghan. As we sit drinking now, it was five years ago I met her here.
‘And I bet she was sitting there celebrating my departure from Good Morning Britain so this move will be the stuff of nightmares for her. So cheers Meghan!’
While there is no official date for the arrival of Piers’ long-awaited return to TV, he has shared a first look at his new studio and promised the programme will launch ‘in a few weeks’.
