Following a complaint from a colleague, Peaky Blinders star Paul Anderson has refuted allegations of wrongdoing.
The 44-year-old actor portrayed Arthur Shelby in the BBC Birmingham drama, which finished its sixth and last season in April 2022.
According to reports, the allegations surfaced just before the series’ cinematic conclusion, prompting concerns about Anderson’s role in the movie.
The star has firmly disputed the allegations, but the producers of the show are allegedly investigating the accusation.
A source shared: ‘Paul has had an issue to deal with away from the set after a claim was made — which he completely denies. Of course, it is being looked into thoroughly.’
The Sun also claims that the latest claims have ‘cast a cloud’ over his casting.
Set between World Wars, the hit BBC show follows the Peaky Blinders street gang in Birmingham, led by Cillian Murphy’s ambitious crime boss Tommy Shelby.
The series aired from 2013 until 2022, amassing an international following and leaving an indelible influence on popular culture.
Steven Knight, the show’s creator, announced in September 2022 that a Peaky Blinders film would be released in the future, but not until 2024 at the earliest.
‘The film is definitely happening. I’m writing the script at the moment, I am in the process of writing. As soon as that’s finished, we will go into production,’ he said.
Knight also expressed his delight at the return of Murphy, 46, as gang leader Tommy.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper, he said: ‘It is phenomenal [to know Cillian is returning] and he’s a phenomenal actor and human being.’
