Paul Chuckle has made a sad attempt to contact his late brother Barry’s ghost six years after his death.
Paul, the ChuckleVision star’s brother and long-time TV collaborator, died from bone cancer in 2018 at the age of 73. He has previously spoken of experiencing visions of Barry.
In 2022, Paul said that he saw Barry’s spirit grin at him and give him a thumbs up before his first solo performance after his death.
In a new episode of Celebrity Help!, he admits that knowing Barry is still with him gives him peace. My House Is Haunted is seeking to speak with his late sibling using the famed saying ‘To me, to you’.
After hearing some weird sounds, Paul seeks the assistance of paranormal investigators to see whether Barry’s spirit is present and whether there are any other terrible entities hiding in his home.
The 76-year-old, actual name Paul Elliott, is searching for answers after witnessing paranormal activity in his Nottinghamshire barn since moving in 18 months ago with his wife of 36 years, Sue.
‘We first move in, we heard a few creaks and noises, and just put it down to an old building,’ he begins.
‘There’s times where it sounds like there is a toilet flushing somewhere in the house, and there’s only me and Sue here!’
But it was only the beginning; what came next was considerably more horrifying.
Paul heard light footsteps and noticed child-like handprints on the walls.
‘We hadn’t had any kids here, and up to then there had never been anything on that wall. It sort of made me feel a little bit spooky then; where has it come from?’ he says.
‘Since then, we’ve heard little footprints here and there, running around, chuckling – excuse the pun!’
One night, Paul saw a figure standing at the foot of his bed that looked like ‘a little kid’.
He reveals: ‘I opened my eyes again and it had gone. That was the most eery thing I’ve had here. That was awful, I hardly slept all night!’
And he wasn’t the only one, after a guest ‘swore blind that there was somebody there in the room walking backwards and forwards across the foot of the bed.’
Fortunately, no one has been injured, but the disturbing encounters have left Paul eager for answers, especially given his belief in ghosts.
The TV star even feels Barry’s presence around him, saying: ‘He’s always around me, I’ve always felt that from the day he did.
‘Almost every night he’s in my dreams; it’s a nice comfort thought that my brother is around.’
However, the detectives quickly discover that it is not Barry’s soul haunting the property, but rather that of a notorious killer called Charles Peace, who terrorised the surrounding neighbourhood.
According to historical accounts, Peace was wounded in an industrial accident as a youngster and went on to become a burglar and killer before being executed by hanging.‘There’s a lot going on, I’m not going to lie to you,’ medium Ian Lawman tells Paul.
However, the comedian is still attempting to find Barry by employing a recording device to communicate with his ghost.
Through white noise, they initially hear one ghost cursing at them in the toilet, where Paul had heard all of the unexplained sounds.
He then asks if Barry is around him, saying: ‘Barry, are you here today?’
‘To me, Barry. To me,’ he attempts. ‘To you, then.’
Will the team discover who has been haunting Paul’s house, and will they connect Paul with his late brother Barry?
