In the first trailer for her upcoming Netflix documentary, Pamela Anderson breaks her silence on the contentious Disney+ series Pam & Tommy.
The 55-year-old made news again last year with the release of the series about her and former partner Tommy Lee’s sex tape, which starred Lily James as her.
Now, in the trailer for Pamela: A Love Story, the former Baywatch actress says: ‘I blocked that stolen tape out of my life in order to survive. Now that it’s all coming up again, I feel sick.
‘I want to take control of the narrative for the first time. I didn’t feel like I had a lot of respect.
‘I had to make a career out of the pieces left. But I’m not the damsel in distress. I put myself in crazy situations and survived them.’
The trailer shows archive clips of Pamela’s career, including a sad moment where she is asked by Ruby Wax, ‘Do you want to be a serious actress?’
‘I am a serious actress,’ Pamela replies before Ruby looks to the camera and laughs.
‘I don’t think people consider her the proprietor of her own image,’ a male voice says elsewhere in the trailer. Pamela Anderson is public property.’
Pamela continues: ‘I don’t care what people think ’cause it’s the only choice I had. If I cared what people think, I wouldn’t be here.
‘Some people think, “Oh, she’s a Playboy thing” or this sexual person and they hate you for being something else.
‘You have to be brave you have to use what you’ve got. Why can’t we be the heroes of our own life story?’
She jokes, ‘Maybe I just do all the interviews naked, there’s no mystery here,’ before the trailer comes to a close.
Pamela: A Love Story streams on Netflix from January 31
