Amanda Owen, actress of Our Yorkshire Farm, has said that her family recently faced a’scary’ medical emergency in which one of her children had to be flown to hospital by helicopter.
Amanda and her family have been in the spotlight for several years after opening up about their lives on TV, first in the ITV documentary The Dales, then in Channel 5’s New Lives In The Wild UK, and finally in their own show.
Amanda, often known as ‘The Yorkshire Shepherdess,’ has nine children with Clive Owen, from whom she divorced in 2022.
During a recent interview, the 48-year-old revealed how she and Clive, 68, co-parent their children, with their children being “very independent” with their own “tasks and jobs” to complete at Ravenseat Farm in the Yorkshire Dales.
However, shortly before the holiday season, they were confronted with an alarming circumstance when one of the children required immediate medical attention.
‘Just literally three weeks before Christmas we had another medical emergency on the farm,’ she told Times Radio.
‘That was a scary one, whereby one of the children was taken ill, and that involved a helicopter coming, an air ambulance coming to pick us up.’
Amanda agreed that some people may think it’s ‘incredible’ that they live in such a rural setting on their farm.
However, being so isolated, and hence requiring a helicopter to fly in for an air ambulance, is ‘one of the negatives,’ according to her.
When questioned if the youngster is doing well following the event, she replied, ‘Everything is totally fine, although it was a scary moment.’
Earlier this year, Amanda discussed what it’s been like to co-parent her children with Clive, saying it’s been ‘difficult,’ but they’ve simply got to get on with it.
‘Look, there are two simple facts: if he thought I was brilliant, and I thought he was brilliant, then we wouldn’t have separated,’ she told Radio Times.
‘It’s a fact, isn’t it? But, you know what, that’s not unique, it’s just how things are, pressures, all the rest of it.
‘But we have nine kids, with associated friends, girlfriends, and we just have to get on with it.’
In a statement released on social media, the pair stated, ‘This hasn’t been easy, but we both believe it’s the correct choice for the future of our family.’
