What about climate change? Is AI transforming us all into mindless machines? As terrible as it sounds, Greggs has just sent chills over the internet with a tweet announcing the return of Black Mirror.
Charlie Brooker’s anthology series returns with five new episodes, which we can affirm are among the greatest Black Mirror episodes to date, featuring an incredible ensemble.
Annie Murphy (Schitt’s Creek) leads in the unsettling drama. Aaron Paul returns to Black Mirror for his second appearance in the excruciating Beyond The Sea, and let’s just say you’ll never see Selma Hayek in the same way again.
She even worried she’d be in big trouble for one scenario, and to be honest, she was right.
Each episode is generally scary, as you’d imagine, but none is more unsettling than Greggs bakery’s nightmare.
‘Black Mirror has gone too far this time,’ the supplier of the world’s best corned beef pasty wrote on Twitter.
And then beneath is the unthinkable. A black and white photo of a sausage roll and the question: ‘What if there wasn’t Greggs?’
Naturally, the concept was too much for the general public.
‘Truly the worst of alternate realities,’ wrote one Greggs enthusiast. ‘Where would I buy a delicious sausage bean and cheese melt?’
‘It’s not even worth thinking about bestie,’ the baker replied.
Another squealed: ‘I’d cry.’
That is an understatement.
We won’t reveal too much about Black Mirror season six, but Charlie Brooker recently told Metro.co.uk that he is still astounded by the show’s popularity.
‘Well the first episode is about a prime minister f**king a pig! So you don’t necessarily think that’s going to travel.
‘But it did, much to my surprise.’
Black Mirror season 6 is available to stream on Netflix now.
