If you’re looking for anything to replace your Fool Me Once binge, we have you covered.
The addicting Netflix success based on Harlan Coben’s novel of the same name captivated fans when it premiered on New Year’s Day, with over 37.1 million Netflix users turning in and over 238 million hours viewed.
The eight-episode drama follows the aftermath of the gruesome murder of ex-Army Officer Maya (Michelle Keegan) and her husband Joe (Richard Armitage).
Joe inexplicably appears alive on Maya’s nanny camera, cuddling their kid, throwing the inquiry off course and revealing a web of dark secrets.
We won’t spoil it for those who haven’t seen it yet (where have you been?!). However, if you’re looking for an equally stressful drama to keep you captivated, it appears like Netflix has you covered.
Quay Street Productions will create limited series adaptations of Harlan Coben’s novels Missing You and Run Away.
Coben will act as executive producer through his firm, Final Twist Productions, which sounds quite interesting.
Missing You and Run Away will be Netflix’s ninth and tenth on-screen adaptations, respectively, as part of an ongoing creative engagement with the author, who continues to collaborate with local screenwriters from across the world.
Missing You, directed by Sean Spencer from a scenario by Victoria Asare-Archer, seems sufficiently stressful, as Detective Kat Donovan’s world is flipped upside down after her fiancé Josh, the love of her life, disappears 11 years ago.
She hasn’t heard from him since, but she sees his face while browsing through profiles on a dating app, and Josh’s reappearance will ‘push her to plunge back into the mystery surrounding her father’s death and unearth long-buried truths from her past’.
Danny Brocklehurst’s Run Away tells the story of Simon, who had the perfect life: a loving wife and children, a terrific profession, and a lovely home.
Everything falls apart when his eldest daughter Paige runs away from home – but his life takes another twist when he finds her ‘vulnerable and strung out on drugs in a city park’.
He had a chance to bring his girl home, but Netflix teased: ‘Tt turns out she’s not alone and an argument escalates into shocking violence that will shatter Simon’s life all over again.
‘His search for his daughter will take him into a dangerous underworld, revealing deep secrets that could tear his family apart forever.’
Fool Me Once is available to stream on Netflix.
