A woman on Naked Education fought to hold back emotions as she opened up about struggling from postnatal depression.
The Channel 4 program, presented by Anna Richardson of Naked Attraction and Dr Alex George of Love Island, debuted on the It’s a Sin channel on Tuesday.
The six-part series seeks to support the body positivity movement by having candid conversations and teaching people on what ‘normal’ bodies look like.
During the first show, two mothers, Lauren and Libby, sat down and talked openly about their pregnancies, childbirth, and the challenges they encountered.
Lauren sobbed as she described her experience with post-natal depression after the delivery of her boy, describing the time as “really horrible.”
‘I was staring at him, not wanting to feed him, not wanting to embrace him,’ she sobbed.
‘I loved him but I was not wanting to touch him. It was the most heartbreaking thing.’
‘I didn’t want to be here anymore,’ she added.
According to the NHS, if a woman feels down, tearful, or worried more than two weeks after giving birth, she should call her doctor.
Later in the episode, the two moms, both of whom had emergency cesareans, removed their robes to reveal their wounds to one another.
Speaking about the show earlier this week Anna, 52, said: ‘Naked Education is sort of one step further than Naked Attraction, as it says: “Let’s normalise bodies, let’s have the conversation about what we go through and let’s actually educate the nation.”
Anna remembered an especially memorable episode in which Finn, a transgender man, addressed having his penis surgically made and even displayed the results on video.
‘I’ve never seen that before in the flesh and I don’t think I’ve seen it on TV, so the fact that Finn was prepared to go naked, show his penis and show how it works – that was mind blowing!,’ said Anna to The Sun.
