Minx has been given fresh life courtesy to Starz after being abruptly terminated by HBO last month.
The sensual comedy, starring Jake Johnson, Ophelia Lovibond, and Michael Angarano, aired on HBO Max in March and received a second season renewal in May.
However, the streamer abruptly cancelled it in December as production on the new series approached completion.
Fortunately, Starz, whose parent company, Lionsgate, produces Minx, has arrived to save the day.
Creator and showrunner Ellen Rapport couldn’t be more delighted, and in a statement said: ‘I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining the Starz family, and for the opportunity to introduce Minx to a brand new audience.
‘We’ve found the perfect home. Our writers, cast and crew have created something truly special in season two, and I can’t wait for everyone to see it.’
In a video published on Starz and Mixs’ social media accounts, the cast expressed their joy at being saved.
‘Thank you to the fans for all of the love and the support,’ Joyce Prigger star Ophelia said.
‘We never finish early!’ Jake added. ‘Minx is back and we’ve got a new home.’
Jake, who plays Doug Renetti on the programme, also celebrated the fantastic news by posting a photo from set to Instagram.
‘Excited to announce that @Starz picked up Minx!’ he captioned the post. ‘More details about when season one and season two will be streaming to come! We’re all fired up for everyone to see S2 & beyond.’
Minx had already been removed from HBO Max’s streaming platform.
‘We have enjoyed a good partnership with HBO Max and are working closely to find a new opportunity for Minx, so current, and new viewers, can continue this journey with us,’ Lionsgate TV said in a statement at the time.
