Millie Gibson has raved over Doctor Who actor Ncuti Gatwa, dismissing claims that she had been dropped off the show.
According to reports, the 19-year-old former Coronation Street actress will not return for a second season after making her debut as Ruby Sunday in the Christmas special.
According to rumours, Doctor Who showrunner Russell has already written off Millie’s character in next scripts, with a source suggesting that she will only return ‘to tie up loose ends’. Varada Sethu is expected to play opposite Ncuti’s Time Lord.
And, while Millie seemed to have ignored the accusations with a series of vacation photos, she has now revealed her cute bond with the Sex Education actress.
Ncuti, 31, shared a series of self-proclaimed thirst traps on Instagram, to which Millie responded, ‘I’m breathless.’
This comes after he made his feelings known about the claims she’d been axed, sending her some love on Instagram with a photo of them on the set of Doctor Who with the caption ‘My lil [heart emoji]’.
Earlier this week, an insider told The Mirror: ‘Millie Gibson has all but left now and there’s a brand new companion, which is really exciting.
‘Russell is keeping things moving and isn’t letting the grass grow, that’s for sure.’
According to the magazine, Millie will appear in only a few episodes of Sex Education star Ncuti’s second series as the Time Lord, which will debut in 2025.
She has already taped eight episodes, which will premiere in May.
When it was revealed that Millie had been cast as Ruby Sunday, Ncuti gushed over his potential co-star.
‘She is full of talent, strength, she has a cheeky sparkle in her eye and is sharp as a razor.
‘From the moment she walked into the room she captured all of our attention with her effervescence and then solidified that attention with the sheer torque of her talent.
‘This adventure is going to be so wild and so fun, I cannot WAIT to sail the universe with Millie!’
Millie’s Doctor Who debut during the holiday season was well-received, with fans praising her seamless connection with Ncuti and sharp humour.
‘Millie Gibson stole the show for me. I absolutely love Ruby Sunday!’ shared X user Ben L Maden after the episode aired.
‘I have to say, Millie Gibson already is proving that she’s gonna be one enjoyable and lovable companion. I literally cannot wait to see more of her as Ruby Sunday!! ,’ agreed Owen.
